The Annual General Meeting of the Heron Park Community Association will be on Tuesday, Dec 2 at 7pm at Billingswood Manor at the corner of Bank St and Ohio (map). Please enter by the side door at the dining room (on the right hand side of the building, just follow the signs).
Federal MP David McGuinty will be in attendance, we will receive an update on our work to raise funds for a new community centre, and we will discuss issues and concerns of the community. Since we elect executive members for two year terms, we do not have executive elections this year, but we do have openings for additional board members. You can also renew your membership or join the community association for the low, low price of just $5 per family.
The pool staff at the Heron Park Wading Pool is teaming up with the Heron Park Community Association to organize a party in Heron Park on Wednesday, August 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The theme this year is HAWAIIAN LUAU! There will be a costume contest, decorations, themed activities (throughout the day), and the usual special event treats (slip’n’slide, parachute, music, etc.).
The HPCA will fire up a couple of gas grills around noon and we will be selling $2 all-beef hotdogs and $3 hamburgers. Drinks will be $1 each. Jumbo Freezies for $1.
So, bring your grass skirts and colourful shirts to Heron Park on August 1st!!!
The Heron Park Wading Pool is once again open for the season. With all the hot, dry weather we’ve been experiencing in Ottawa this summer, residents are very grateful that they have a place to bring their kids to cool off and have fun.
August Hours of Operation
The Wednesday Night Program continues to evolve.
Originally pitched as an activity evening for at-risk teens and tweens, it has become a popular event for families with young children, and an opportunity for local teens to gain volunteer hours for high school.
We continue to offer structured and unstructured physical activities, food and fun for residents of all ages. Adult supervision provided. Parents are always welcome.
The WNP is every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
When: Tuesday, March 20th at 7:00 PM
Where: Heron Park Community Centre (Corner of Clover Street & Richard Ave)
What: Share your ideas as we consider planting a Community Orchard later this spring.
Join fellow community members who are interested in creating a Community Orchard here in Heron Park. For a bit more background on what has been done so far (spoiler alert: not much apart from getting permission from the City) you can read the article in the Spring 2012 Herald or download this short summary: Heron Park – Community Orchard Info.pdf [1.5 MB]
We will be posting the results of the community meeting on this website (heronpark.ca) so that you can follow our progress.
Hope to see you there!
