Convergys employee and Rockingham Avenue resident, Rolf Hansen, spearheaded a fundraising event at the Convergys offices at Herongate Mall on Friday, July 17 from 11am to 4pm.

Their managers, trainers and other staff participated in the car-wash and also did a clean-up of a local park beside the mall.

We will keep you posted on the amount of money that Convergys was able to raise on our behalf.

We really appreciate their efforts!

It was a wet and wild, Saturday-morning Bottle Drive. We had a full complement of volunteers. Given the soggy weather, we were fortunate to complete Secord, Richard, Aldea, Clover, Gilles, Lasalle and Apolydor. We had hoped to go as far as Ohio, but ended our efforts after finishing Apolydor at around 2pm.

If you are still interested in having bottles collected, contact Colin at cmaclean_esl@yahoo.com or phone him at 613-863-5101. If you have returned your bottles and would like to donate to the Playstructure Fund, contact Maritala.

Thanks for your ongoing support!

In the June 2009 edition of the Heron Park Herald, Rosella MacNeil reported on Gabriel Giamberardino’s fundraising efforts on behalf of Villa Marconi Long Term Care Centre. Last September, he was presented with a certificate of appreciation from Villa Marconi in recognition of the work he and the Ottawa chapter of the Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association (CIBPA) have performed in support of Villa Marconi.

Locally, he has long been responsible for running the cardplayers’ club in the Heron Park Community Centre. Gabriel’s support of the Heron Park Community Association’s programs and activities has been greatly appreciated.

The Wednesday Night Program continues to enjoy great support from the neighbourhood. This photo was taken on June 24.

We took a night off on July 1 to celebrate Canada Day on the Hill, but we’ll be back in action on Wednesday, July 8. More fun-filled evenings of  supervised activities, food and games.

5:30 to 7:30pm every Wednesday in Heron Park.

See you at the WNP!

Canadian Tire helps HPCA raise $2,600 for Playstructure fundraiser!

Raffle prize for Playstructure fundraising event

Raffle prize for HPCA Playstructure fundraising event

This lovely Master Chef T620 grill was the prize for the Sunday, June 21 raffle draw put on at the Bank and Heron Canadian Tire as a fundraising event for the Playstructure Fund. Heron Canadian Tire generously donated the grill–valued at more than $380– to the Heron Park Community Association to raffle off. Four successful days of fundraising culminated in the winning ticket being drawn at 4pm on Father’s Day. Over $2,600 was raised!

As with any community event, it wouldn’t be successful without enthusiastic, hardworking volunteers from the neighbourhood. Maritala Robinson and Leo Derome are very grateful to Peter Fourney for approaching the Bank and Heron Canadian Tire and securing the donated BBQ. Manager Matt Johnson facilitated the donation of the grill and the fundraising activities at his Canadian Tire location.

Congratulations to Dan of Albion Road!!! Dan is the winner of the Master Chef T620 grill.
