Over two dozen members of the Heron Park community met under blue skies to take part in Jane’s Walk on Saturday May 4. The group, lead by Planning and Development Committee members Reid and Mike, took to the streets of Heron Park by foot, discussing what the community might look like ten years from now.
Jane’s Walk is a global grassroots event lead by local volunteers, first held in Toronto in 2007. It is named in honour of Jane Jacobs (1916-2006), a Toronto-based urbanist whose writings “championed a fresh, community-based approach to understanding, organizing, designing, and building cities.” First held the year after Jane’s death by close friends, the walk is a way to honour her ideas and celebrate her legacy.

After an hour-long walk, the group stopped in for refreshments at Overflow Brewing Company on Kaladar.
