What’s All The Fuss About a New Playstructure?

If you want a clear answer to this question – come and find out!
Be a part of the decision making process!
Be a community builder!

All Heron Parkers are encouraged to attend this week’s meeting on Tuesday, January 12th at 7pm in order to hear a proposed idea for our Community Park. We will hear from Bruce Sudds from Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds . He will give us information on the playground we could have in Heron Park. [There are two choices we’re looking into.]

Whether you have young children or not, anything that provides the children of our neighbourhood with a healthy, active form of entertainment will, over time, benefit the entire neighbourhood.

You can stay just for this topic (the first on the agenda) or for as long as you like. Our meetings usually finish between 8:30 and 9.

Convergys employee and Rockingham Avenue resident, Rolf Hansen, spearheaded a fundraising event at the Convergys offices at Herongate Mall on Friday, July 17 from 11am to 4pm.

Their managers, trainers and other staff participated in the car-wash and also did a clean-up of a local park beside the mall.

We will keep you posted on the amount of money that Convergys was able to raise on our behalf.

We really appreciate their efforts!

It was a wet and wild, Saturday-morning Bottle Drive. We had a full complement of volunteers. Given the soggy weather, we were fortunate to complete Secord, Richard, Aldea, Clover, Gilles, Lasalle and Apolydor. We had hoped to go as far as Ohio, but ended our efforts after finishing Apolydor at around 2pm.

If you are still interested in having bottles collected, contact Colin at cmaclean_esl@yahoo.com or phone him at 613-863-5101. If you have returned your bottles and would like to donate to the Playstructure Fund, contact Maritala.

Thanks for your ongoing support!

Canadian Tire helps HPCA raise $2,600 for Playstructure fundraiser!

Raffle prize for Playstructure fundraising event

Raffle prize for HPCA Playstructure fundraising event

This lovely Master Chef T620 grill was the prize for the Sunday, June 21 raffle draw put on at the Bank and Heron Canadian Tire as a fundraising event for the Playstructure Fund. Heron Canadian Tire generously donated the grill–valued at more than $380– to the Heron Park Community Association to raffle off. Four successful days of fundraising culminated in the winning ticket being drawn at 4pm on Father’s Day. Over $2,600 was raised!

As with any community event, it wouldn’t be successful without enthusiastic, hardworking volunteers from the neighbourhood. Maritala Robinson and Leo Derome are very grateful to Peter Fourney for approaching the Bank and Heron Canadian Tire and securing the donated BBQ. Manager Matt Johnson facilitated the donation of the grill and the fundraising activities at his Canadian Tire location.

Congratulations to Dan of Albion Road!!! Dan is the winner of the Master Chef T620 grill.
